Humanitarian Day 2018

Each year, the ILM Foundation and NewGround alum Umar Hakim bring together the Los Angeles service community to provide resources and services for the underprivileged of Los Angeles County. NewGround’s partnership with Humanitarian Day this year represents the importance of relationship-building in community support. Find more information about Humanitarian Day below.

Humanitarian Day grew out of the ILM Foundation and the Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity, and has been a staple in Los Angeles community service circles for years now. Annually, hundreds gather in H-Day-supported locations to volunteer their time and labor in order to contribute to the process of providing care, resources, and services to underprivileged members of our neighborhoods. We are proud to be a part of this admirable cause, especially during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

In previous years, volunteers have worn T-shirts with the words “Save A Life, Save Humanity,” referring to a well-known verse from the Qur’an. This year, T-shirts called for awareness, advocacy, and action.
