We gathered at Pico Union Project for NewGround’s annual interfaith iftar on March 9th. In a moment when we are beset by frightening headlines, rising antisemitism and Islamophobia, and rising challenges to vital peace-building work, NewGround chooses to do things differently. We bring community together to listen more deeply, to talk about the difficult issues, and understand one another. 

Our Next Level Leaders will soon learn from experts in the fields of anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hate and bias to understand the specificities of each, and look at them side by side to help our communities better identify these biases and better protect ourselves and one another.

We gather people who are committed to standing up for each other, who have each others’ backs. We believe that our differences are worth discussing and navigating, so that we can keep working together to build the pro-social, pro-democracy, pro-human community in Los Angeles and Southern California that we all want.
