A Cohort Kickoff!

A new year, a new cohort!

This past month, NewGround has been busy observing and celebrating both the Muslim and Jewish New Years, as well as the significant holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Ashura, and Yom Kippur. Alongside the new year, however, we are also thrilled to welcome our 2018-19 program cohorts.

Our Professional Fellowship is a place to create, connect and transform. This year, 24 Muslims and Jews are a part of our 2018-2019 cohort. Over the course of the next 9 months, they will meet twice per month and participate in two weekend-long retreats, where they learn from each other and community leaders.

Here’s this year’s crew at their first meeting:

Muslims and Jews Inspiring Change (MAJIC) is our high school leadership council program. This year’s 2018-2019 cohort is comprised of 11 Muslims and 11 Jews from diverse backgrounds. Over the next 9 months, these students will have the opportunity to build upon their own leadership skills, create lasting relationships across faiths, and exercise their ability to have an impact on important social issues in Los Angeles.

Here’s a picture of our MAJIC students at their first weekend-long retreat:
