After the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, our NewGround fellows rallied around our Muslim community members. Emily Grant ‘26 and Brooke Wirtschafter ‘22 organized solidarity gatherings at Friday jummah prayers at the Islamic Center of Southern California and Masjid al-Thoir in Koreatown. One of our fellows even made it down to San Diego to show support for ICSC.

This is what NewGround is all about: When one of us is threatened, we all come together to protect and support them. At a time when both anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish hate are on the rise, we know that we have to show up for each other, without hesitation.
