Nate Looney is a Los Angeles native, 5th generation farmer, aquaponic specialist, U.S Army veteran and entrepreneur. After 8 years in the US Army as Military Police, Nate received a BA in business from American Jewish University. He is an alum of both Veterans to Farmers and Farmer Veteran Coalition controlled environment programs. In May of 2015 he created the agricultural startup Westside Urban Gardens, as local urban agricultural business with a focus on water based cultivation techniques using urban landscapes. Being a part of this New Ground cohort is an important to Nate because believes true learning happens when people from different aspects of intersectionality meet and learn from one another.
