NewGround Programs!

It is on the heels of wrapping up a sublime year with two fantastic NewGround cohorts – one from our Fellowship and the other from our high school leadership council (MAJIC) – that we at NewGround invite you to apply to our upcoming 2018-19 program cohorts! If you are interested in developing conflict resolution skills, lasting relationships, and your ability to communicate across communities, this opportunity is for you!

NewGround is proud to manage two programming initiatives each year: the NewGround professional fellowship and the Muslims and Jews Inspiring Change high school leadership council.

Over the course of the fellowship, fellows annually are empowered with the skills, resources, and relationships to strengthen Muslim-Jewish relations in America and advance a shared agenda for change in Los Angeles. From September through April, Change-Makers meet twice per month and participate in two weekend retreats where they learn from each other and community leaders. Alumni then create projects to impact the larger community.

You can find more information on the fellowship and the application process here. Applications are due on 31 July 2018.

The high school leadership council, each year, invites a select cadre of teens to participate. After a fall retreat, the students meet twice a month to learn about how organizations in their communities respond to major social issues. During the spring semester, students then develop their own joint Muslim-Jewish response to a social issue they deem most important. Upon completion of the fellowship, council members receive a certificate from the City of Los Angeles in appreciation of their contribution to improving intergroup relations in Los Angeles and strengthening Muslim-Jewish relations.

You can find more information on the leadership council and the application process here. Applications are due on 19 July 2018.
