Sarah got her B.A. in French Language, History, & Culture and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. As a student in Paris, Sarah got her first experience in NGO work while interning at Ni Putes Ni Soumises, an organization that works with domestic violence survivors and in government structure while interning at the Ministry of Ecology’s Commission for Sustainable Development. In Baltimore, she helped lead Goucher’s Feminist Collective, writing grants and bringing local and national organizations to campus.She helped write and research The Feminist Majority Foundation’s National Clinic Access Project Survey in 2014 and did research for the documentary production company Brave New Films. Having spent the last year in France teaching English to children at an inner city elementary school, she has come back to her roots in Los Angeles to start her career in the nonprofit world, focusing on human rights advocacy. She is currently working as a French Interpreter for the Program for Torture Victims and freelancing within the Greater Los Angeles nonprofit world. Sarah is excited to learn more about conflict resolution and effective communication, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from the diverse experiences of this year’s NewGround fellowship cohort.
