March 25: We also will have a conversation with academics and activists Omar Dajani and Mira Sucharov on March 25 at 12 PM. Omar Dajani served as a legal adviser to the Palestinian negotiating team in peace talks with Israel from 1999 to 2001. He is currently professor of law at McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. Mira Sucharov is professor of political science at Carleton University. She is the author or co-editor of five books, most recently “Borders and Belonging: A Memoir” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021).

Together, Omar and Mira are developing a podcast on the past, present, and future of Palestinian and Jewish life. “View from the Vacant Lot” will focus on the land in Jaffa once owned by Omar’s family during the British Mandate, and the changes it has gone through since 1948. They are also writing a book together on diaspora attachment to Israel Palestine.

We hope you will join us on March 25 at 12:00 PST as we speak with Mira and Omar about the nature of their work, how it has been impacted in the last several months, and how this intersects with our current work at NewGround.
